Contract award - Oldham
Design & Display Structures have won two major dome contracts in the Oldham area - Central Mosque OL9 6BB and Medina Mosque OL8 1BT. Both contracts require a complete scheme i.e. double curved GRP outer dome, GRP inner liner, internal supporting steelwork, finials and GRP perimeter drum cladding below with formed reveals for glazed windows. The largest dome is 10m diameter and the external panels are in a translucent finish (Green/Blue mix blend from Llewellyn Ryland) giving a glass light appearance. On the inside are multicolour decorated features in relief which will impress visitors from far and wide. The features will be created from modular GRP sections, fully finished and predrilled in the factory environment before being delivered to site, assembled at ground level and crane lifted into position. This method contributes to reducing our carbon footprint through reduced transportation, travel and labour time spent on site whilst reducing the loads on the main building. On one site there is an additional requirement for on site laminating works over the newly formed ply base which provides weathering at the junctions between the roof plinth and the new dome. Installation is due to take place summer 2010 For further information please contact Allan Curtis 07718 320184 or Dick Kiss 07971 248431 |
